University Club

The University Club has been at the epicenter of Pittsburgh’s social scene since 1890. The Club originally opened in downtown Pittsburgh, relocating to Oakland in 1923. Designed by Henry Hornbostel, the University Club stands eight stories tall and is part of the Schenley Farms National Historic District.

The building features a grand lobby with a curved staircase, a ballroom with an imported crystal chandelier, vaulted ceilings, a study, and scenic views of the University of Pittsburgh. Floors one through four house a faculty club, fitness center, conference and banquet facilities, and a café. Floors five through eight are equipped with 48 guest rooms that are reserved for Family House, a local non-profit that provides families with temporary housing while their loved ones are treated in Oakland hospitals. The University Club hosts various events throughout the year, such as weddings, large conferences, meetings, trainings, and programming.
